Daily Chemical Exposure

Do you ever question how many personal care products you use in a day and what is in them? How many do you use before 9am? Before you leave for work, school or start your day?

The average person uses 9 and this means they expose themselves to over 120 different chemicals daily, according to surveys done in 2018. Unfortunately of over 13,000 chemicals used in these products only 10% are evaluated for safety. What’s even more concerning is that scientists are starting to talk about our What does this mean? This is the amount of chemical buildup in your body, and this is thought to be linked with increased chances of cancer or fertility problems.

There is definitely exposure daily to toxins that we can’t avoid, like air pollution but you can control what you put on the body. In the USA the FDA doesn’t test the ingredients of body care products for efficacy or safety and federal laws are outdated. To top it all off, there is no regulation for manufacturers to put all ingredients on their labels and honestly even if they did we probably wouldn’t be able to read them or even know what they are.

So before you pick up your conditioner, shampoo, hairstyling products, toothpaste, mouthwash, makeup, perfume etc., think about what you are putting on your body and possibly think about making the switch to a product that is more natural, has a short list of ingredients that are legible, and well known.
